Second day on my trip up the coast of California and we are stopping at Santa Cruz and at Pigeon Point Lighthouse. All places that i have been before but not since i got back to California at the end of Feb. Pigeon Point is one of the sister lighthouses in the Central Coast Lighthouse Keepers group that Pt Sur Lightstation belongs. So i have been here several times but not since i had returned to California at the end of Feb.
I had stayed close to this lighthouse on another trip at a campground that had canvas tents that were very nice. I would love to come back but they do not allow pets, so it was out this trip as i was traveling with Ms Liberty.
I attempted to stop at Ft. Point lighthouse which is under the san fran side of the Golden Gate Bridge and also attempted to stop on the other side to shoot back across the bridge. But it was mid day and the tourist were out in all their craziness and so i decided another day would have to do.
I went the long way out to Pt Reyes but again the fog was thick at the lighthouse and there was no good place to park and get Ms. Liberty out of the sun for me to try to walk out there. That will also be another trip when i can come without her and do a hiking path through the cows where the sign says there are harbor seals that give birth out there somewhere.
Same was true when i got to Pt Arena. Plus it was closed and you could not get close enough to get a picture, or at least it seemed with the fog. I did come back the next morning but it was still very foggy and would be several hours before the park would be open, so I moved on down the road. Again, it is close enough to make a return trip easily.
