this is off Mora in the Olympic National forest. These rock formations are called sea stacks. Very beautiful and reading the above sign about them was interesting to me. This part of the coast is Wilderness and most of the western coast is only accessible by backpacking in to it. The roads to places like Mora and LaPush take you into spots where there is wilderness on one side and Indian reservations on the other. I could not just drive down along the coast like i could in California or Oregon. As much as i wanted to drive it, i am glad that there are places still that you can not. Lots of drift wood not the beaches. Sometimes so much that you could not easily get out on the beach. Plus the beaches were usually small rocks, not sandy.
The coast along this area is one that get a lot of rain as evidenced by this pic and the fact that it rained the night i spent in the tent there. Forks, WA is right close by and you have to pretty much go through it to go further south in Washington. This is the Forks that was in the vampire series called Twilight. The camp ground i stayed in had a sign saying it was at the treaty line. No vampires on one side and no werewolves on the other,
