This is a picture of what the tags look like on California Sea Otters. This is color coded as well as has a number. This is the same otter in the next picture. I know she is a female because of the pink scarring on her nose. The male bites and holds her nose during mating.
this is another otter that hangs out at the Coast Guard Jetty in Monterey. Gulls will many times follow an otter to get scraps and would take it away if given the chance.
Below is an otter eating a crab. This is one of the bigger ones i have seen them eat. however, i do not know how big a crab they would try and eat.
I have no idea what #265 is eating in this one. She is all wrapped up in the kelp and whatever it was, must have been tangled up in it as she manages to get herself all tangled up too.
