So there was a storm that moved through Sat. and Sunday with huge waves and steady rainfall. See previous post over where the monarchs moved to in response to the coming storm. I went out about 1200 on a gorgeous sunny day and there were monarchs flying outside and inside the sanctuary. There were also multitudes sunning on trees in the lower part of the sanctuary. The only place that still had monarch where they were before the storm was in the elbow of the curve at the bottom of the trail along the fence line towards Grove Ave. And these were not in the numbers that they were on Friday and Saturday.
There were also lots of monarchs flying through and sunning in trees around #30, DD and CC as well as down to the ivy tree next to the hotel. Should be interesting as the season progresses to see where and how many we wind up with.
