This pup is climbing up on the rock in the middle of the beach trying to get out of the way of all the Mom's snapping at the pup, all the testosterone fueled males charging around and females hollering and swishing tails to keep the males from mating with them.
This one even climbed up along the beach area in the grass next to fence. One was rescued the previous day because it had gotten so close to the fence that people could reach out and touch him and he was showing no inclination to move. I do not know that I agree with taking him, especially since he seemed pretty healthy. And these pups were moving or not moving all the time. It sounds great to rescue and then feed and release but I am not sure if that is the correct answer to nature being nature. Although it definitely feels good. And there were a number of tags on flippers showing that many of these do make it to adulthood and reproducing. Just a thought!?
